Day 5 : Hereford to Shrewsbury 69 miles (+3187ft)

Darren says this is one of the easier days!

Slight problem in that we were cycling into the wind and some of the road surfaces were not great. But yet again the views were stunning, we live in a beautiful country.

Paul captured one of the rare moments that we were all together in a line as most of the time we cycled in smaller groups suited to our pace.

With the  headwind today however this peloton was a real help and showed the camaraderie and team work that had grown in the group.

Lunch today was in a village called Clun at a Cafe called The Maltings which did fabulous soup and sandwiches.

Good advice from a friend the night before we left for our trip was ‘don’t forget to look up’. I often remembered this as when you are tired and battling with the wind the tendency is to just look down at the road and forget to look around you.

In the afternoon we were treated to Scones, Jam and Cream at the brew stop which was a much needed boost!!
